Gunners target Paris comeback mission in decisive semi-final second-leg showdown

Fortress: Arsenal must follow Liverpool’s lead and beat PSG at the Parc des Princes if they want to reach the Champions League final
Arsenal will attempt to reach the [Champions League](/topic/champions-league) final tonight for the first time in 19 years as they bid to produce a historic comeback in Paris. The Gunners head to France with it all to do to tee up a showpiece fixture against Inter Milan in Munich on May 31 after a below-par performance last week saw them narrowly lose the semi-final first leg on home soil, with Ousmane Dembele’s fourth-minute goal proving the difference at the Emirates Stadium.
Dembele is fit for this evening’s all-important decider after recovering from a hamstring injury, while Arsenal have Thomas Partey back from suspension and the likes of Martin Odegaard and Jurrien Timber having shaken off knocks, allowing Mikel Arteta to revert back to what he hopes will be a more dangerous attacking lineup.
History is against the visitors tonight, with only two teams ever recovering from losing a semi-final first leg at home to then go on and reach the Champions League final. Follow PSG vs Arsenal live below, with expert analysis from Standard Sport’s Simon Collings and Malik Ouzia at the Parc des Princes.
Defender Jurrien Timber was a surprise absence from the Arsenal squad which lost to Bournemouth at the weekend, and Mikel Arteta said he was not confident he would return in time for the game, but he is available for selection and will likely start.
Also returning is Thomas Partey, who was suspended for the first leg, boosting Arsenal’s physical presence in midfield. Riccardo Calafiori is also fit again, but is likely to start as he has not played since March.
There had been concerns that Martin Odegaard would not be fit, but he has made himself available for the tie.
In a huge boost for PSG, Ousmane Dembele is back from injury and is likely to start. He picked up a knock in the first leg and missed last weekend’s loss to Strasbourg, but is now back in contention.
There are no other injuries to speak off as tonight’s hosts boast a strong bill of health.
