Gabriel Jesus surprise Arsenal squad role at PSG after cryptic message

Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has taken another positive step towards his return from injury by travelling to Paris for the Gunners' Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain.

Jesus, 25, is out for the remainder of the season after sustaining an ACL injury in the winter months. The Brazilian scored five goals across two games with Crystal Palace over Christmas before suffering another injury setback.

Kai Havertz's injury 30 days later has forced Mikel Arteta to turn to Mikel Merino to play at centre-forward. The injuries have left Arsenal incredibly short in attack for the second half of the season.

Earlier on Wednesday, Jesus posted two religious passages on his Instagram in Portuguese. Translated to English, the first scripture read: "Why are you downcast, my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God." This is from Psalm 41:11, a passage from the Bible which highlights the importance of resilience and faith in difficult times.

The second post translated to English says: "Lord, forgive what I have been, correct what I am, and direct what I shall be." This piece of wisdom comes from Elizabeth Ann Seton, a Catholic religious sister from the United States who lived from 1774 and died 1821.

Now, Jesus has been pictured with the rest of his teammates at the Parc des Princes upon arrival. The former Manchester City isn't part of the matchday squad but his presence in France is a positive.

Jesus' long-term future at the Emirates Stadium is currently unclear with the Gunners expected to go in for a new striker in the summer. The likes of Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen have been linked with a move to north London with centre-forward a priority for Arteta.
