Clips of riot police clashing with Paris Saint-Germain fans ahead of their decisive Champions League semi-final second leg tie with Arsenal have surfaced online in the areas surrounding the Parc des Princes.

The atmosphere had been building in Paris ahead of Wednesday night's match, which the Gunners head into needing to overturn a 1-0 deficit from last week's first leg. But clashes broke out between fans and police just hours before the game.

Videos of police using tear gas and pushing PSG fans back with shields quickly went viral on social media. Fans could be seen running from the scene trying to cover their faces with scarves.

One reporter even claimed that "entire streets were tear-gassed by police" after fireworks were let off in the French capital.

Arsenal fans have been warned to 'stay vigilant' during their time in Paris ahead of the match due to the possible threat of PSG Ultras. Around 2,000 fans have crossed the channel to attend match at the Parc des Princes.

The club also urged fans to avoid the Auteuil suburb where PSG Ultras tend meet to meet before matches in a statement, which read: "Supporters are strongly advised to avoid the Auteuil suburb of Paris and should take note of this when travelling to the Parc des Princes on matchday.

"Street crime, including pickpocketing, can take place in Paris. Supporters are advised to be vigilant, take sensible precautions and ensure they have valid travel insurance.

"Supporters are strongly advised not to use line 10 on the metro system which would result in supporters exiting the metro system in Auteuil."
