Kieran Tierney's dreams of returning to Celtic as a Champions League winner are over as Paris Saint-Germain sent Arsenal tumbling out in the semi-finals.

The Gunners arrived in Paris knowing they had to overturn last week's 1-0 defeat in North London to salvage their dreams of reaching the May 31 showpiece final.

However, there was to be no happy ending as a stunning Fabian Ruiz volley and Achraf Hakimi strike settled the nerves - even after Bukayo Saka pegged one back at 2-1 - as PSG booked their ticket to Munich, where Italian champions Inter Milan await.

It means KT will bow out of the Emirates with only an FA Cup and two Community Shields to show for his six years with the English Premier League underachievers.

Tierney has featured in most of Arsenal's Champions League knockout games, despite agreeing a pre-contract with Celtic.

The 27-year-old was given minutes against PSV and Real Madrid as Mikel Arteta made full use of his injury-ravaged squad.

But the Scotland defender was an unused sub in both legs against PSG as the Ligue 1 giants progressed 3-1 on aggregate.

Once tipped as a future club captain, Tierney remains a hugely popular figure with fans and could be given runouts in the remaining three games of the campaign.

Arsenal must now pick themselves up for a trip to newly-crowned champions Liverpool before hosting Newcastle a week later in their final home game of 2024/25.

Tierney will likely be given an emotional send-off by Gooners that day before pulling the curtain down on his career in England away to Southampton.

It's not the ending Tierney would've hoped for, but the treble Treble-winning Hoops hero will have the chance to bolster his trophy haul at Parkhead.
