Arsenal's dreams of clinching their first-ever Champions League title were shattered by PSG in a heartbreaking night at the Parc des Princes.

The Gunners, who were already trailing 1-0 from the first leg of their semi-final tie, started off strong but eventually fell to Luis Enrique's side, losing 2-1 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate.

Mikel Arteta's squad are now trophyless for a fifth campaign, and are yet to secure Champions League qualification for next season. The club is under pressure and new signings are set to be made during the summer transfer window. However, Arteta might have a task on his hands holding onto his star players.

Here, the Daily Star Sport looks at the latest Arsenal transfer news.

Arteta lines up defender move

Arsenal are reportedly preparing to make a €20million (£17m) bid for Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera. The 20-year-old centre-back has caught the attention of several clubs across Europe, including the Gunners, who are 'preparing an offer', as per Cadena Ser.

Mosquera has no shortage of admirers, with Atletico Madrid and Villarreal also showing interest. However, this doesn't seem to deter Arsenal, who are said to be 'confident of being able to negotiate' with Valencia for Mosquera once the transfer window officially opens next month.

Real Madrid's Saliba plan

Arsenal are facing a battle to keep William Saliba as Real Madrid circle with interest. The Gunners' new sporting director, Andrea Berta, isn’t wasting any time and is keen to fast-track contract negotiations to secure the Frenchman’s commitment to the club.

Saliba has established himself as one of the Premier League's best centre-backs and the interest from Real Madrid has been no secret. L'Equipe reports that the Spanish giants have already 'planted the seed' for a potential move. But this has only prompted Berta to double down on efforts to persuade the 24-year-old to stay at the Emirates.

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has fumed over the Gunners' lack of a striker after a disappointing Champions League semi-final defeat to PSG. With both Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus sidelined due to injuries, midfielder Mikel Merino has been slotted into an unfamiliar striker role after Arsenal failed to sign a striker in January.

Speaking on TNT Sports, Keown said: "You have to hold your hands up to PSG. Hakimi, what a player he is. Arsenal can be proud of what they have done this season in our second year back in the Champions League. But it has caught up with us that we don't have a proper centre-forward, two of them are out tonight."
