Spain have been put ‘on alert’ about Manchester United youngster Víctor Musa, who is being likened to Lamine Yamal.
That’s [according to AS](https://as.com/futbol/internacional/espana-en-alerta-puede-perder-al-lamine-del-united-n/), who say Spain want to avoid missing out on the youngster like they did with Alejandro Garnacho.
Musa has been making waves in Manchester United’s youth ranks, ‘dazzling’ with goals. He scored six in one game against Leeds at the beginning of April, then scored against Derby County and Everton before a brace against Stoke City.
He has 15 goals in 18 games this season and a battle is set to get start for his international allegiance. He was born in Tudela in the Autonomous Community of Navarre, but his father moved to England in 2016 for work and was joined by his wife and son a year later.
That makes him eligible for both countries and his performances for Manchester United have not gone unnoticed.
Some in Spain believe he could be Manchester United’s Lamine Yamal, and the Spanish football association wants to repeat what they did with him to ensure he is theirs for the future. That is, lock him down early before any contenders move.
The youngster has already appeared for Spain’s U-16 side at the end of 2021. He then appeared for England at the same level a month later.
He’s not received an international call-up since then but it’s only a matter of time and a battle between England and Spain seems likely. Nigeria could also become a third option.
There’s also interest at a club level, with Manchester United’s Europa League opponents Athletic Club de Bilbao ‘certainly’ putting him on their radar. He would fully fit their philosophy and a report in 2023 had them moving for him too.
However, Musa’s ‘dream’ is to play for Manchester United, and the focus is on that. Where his international heart lies remains to be seen.
