Jakub Kiwior is interested in a permanent move away from Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window in search of increased playing time.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 25-year-old believes he can be a regular starter for a top side.

The Poland international has started 18 of his 27 appearances for the Gunners this season, including the last ten games across all competitions.

However, Gabriel Magalhaes is expected to reclaim his place in the starting XI after he returns from injury and Kiwior will be forced back down the pecking order.

As a result, Football Insider revealed on 4 May that Kiwior is considering leaving Arsenal with multiple Serie A clubs believed to be long-term admirers.

Italian clubs lined up loan moves for Kiwior last summer, but no deal materialised and he has instead spent the majority of the season on Arsenal’s bench.

Jakub Kiwior eyes Arsenal exit after Mikel Arteta decision

Mikel Arteta is believed to be a big fan of the Polish defender and sees him as a very capable understudy for Gabriel, so would be reluctant to see him leave this summer.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted the defender will want to move away if one of the interested sides come in for him.

“*This is a problem a lot of teams have suffered from,*” he told Football Insider.

“When a player comes in because of an injury and does well, they’ve got a taste for it, and when the injured player returns they’re cast aside.

“It’s a very difficult situation for a manager to deal with.

“Arsenal will have that problem with Kiwior, because he’s done well since he’s come into the team.

“After how well he played, he’ll believe he can play regularly at the top level.

“He’ll have a lot of suitors, no doubt, who would be willing to offer him that opportunity, and I think he’ll want to go if he gets an offer.

“From what I hear, though, Arteta rates him and values him as an option who can fill in when players like Gabriel or the left-back are injured.

“So for Arsenal it’s a decision they have to make with his best interest in mind.”

Riccardo Calafiori update emerges amid injury concerns

Kiwior is not the only defender who could be on his way out of the Emirates this summer as speculation has emerged about the future of Riccardo Calafiori.

Brown told Football Insider on 5 May that Arsenal are concerned about Calafiori’s fitness issues and will make a decision about his future at the end of the season.

Since joining in July 2024, the Italy international has missed a total of 28 games for club and country due to a recurring knee injury and separate muscle injuries.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed Arsenal are prepared to sell first-team players this summer, with a number of fringe players eyeing moves away.
