Ally McCoist makes massive Arsenal prediction after PSG Champions League defeat

It was not to be for Arsenal in the Champions League in the end. The Gunners improved on last year's performance, but were ultimately undone by Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final.

Winning 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium set PSG on their way and they completed the job to set up a final showdown with Inter Milan by beating Arsenal 2-1 at the Parce des Princes on Wednesday night.

It leaves Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta to lick their wounds and to start making plans for the summer transfer window, with the Gunners requiring just three points from their final three Premier League matches to secure Champions League football next season.

A striker will be high on the priority list, with Arsenal lacking that finishing touch in both legs against PSG, although some of that was down to the inspired form of Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Ally McCoist, who was on the gantry in the commentary box for TNT Sports' coverage of the semi-final clash in Paris, believes two signings are required.

The Scot even made a bold prediction. Speaking to TalkSport Bet he said: "I think Arsenal will win the Premier League next season. As long as they sign two key players – one being an out-and-out centre forward, there’s no reason why Arsenal can’t go and kick on again.

"They’ve got some brilliant players; their back four is solid, Myles Lewis-Skelly has come in, Martin Odegaard’s form has dipped but he’s still a wonderful player and Declan Rice has been out of this world.

"I look at Manchester City; they’re bouncing back from that horrendous run they went on mid-season. Liverpool will take a lot of confidence from holding onto Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk and there’s no doubt they’ll go and strengthen in the summer; keeping hold of those two players is massive for them, even though it’ll be a really tough challenge to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold.

"If Arsenal sign those two key players, and strengthen their bench, I can honestly see them going and winning the league next season."
