Ally McCoist reckons it is finally Arsenal's time to win the English Premier League and end their trophy drought - if they do two things.

The Gunners had their Champions League dream for this season ended by PSG in the semi-final stage after a 2-1 defeat last night in Paris knocked them out of the competition 3-1 on aggregate.

The North London outfit are in pole position to finish runners-up again domestically , although they still do have some work to do, with Liverpool already crowned champions.

Mikel Arteta will reportedly be backed for a major overhaul over the next couple of months as the Spaniard seeks to end a long wait to put major silverware in the trophy cabinet.

It's been widely suggested for a good while that Arsenal require and out and out No9 and it is a position McCoist feels would catapult them into pole position for league glory - if they are able to get one over the line.

Speaking to talkSPORT BET, the former Rangers man and pundit favourite explained: “Arsenal will win the Premier League next season.

"As long as they sign two key players – one being an out-and-out centre forward, there’s no reason why Arsenal can’t go and kick on again.

"They’ve got some brilliant players; their back four is solid, Myles Lewis-Skelly has come in, Martin Odegaard’s form has dipped but he’s still a wonderful player and Declan Rice has been out of this world.

“I look at Manchester City; they’re bouncing back from that horrendous run they went on mid-season.

"Liverpool will take a lot of confidence from holding onto Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk and there’s no doubt they’ll go and strengthen in the summer; keeping hold of those two players is massive for them, even though it’ll be a really tough challenge to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold.

“If Arsenal sign those two key players, and strengthen their bench, I can honestly see them going and winning the league next season.”
