'Best striker in the world’ now open to joining Arsenal this summer - BBC

Arsenal are prioritising a new striker this summer, with Newcastle United centre-forward Alexander Isak top of Mikel Arteta’s wishlist, according to BBC reporter Sami Mokbel.

The Gunners are set for a significant summer after falling short in all competitions this season. Arsenal were beaten to the Premier League title by Liverpool with a few games to go, while they were knocked out of the Champions League this week by Paris Saint-Germain.

Arsenal were also eliminated from the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, meaning it's another trophyless campaign for the north London club. Adding a striker could be one of their priorities, considering the inconsistent performances and injuries of Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.

According to BBC reporter Mokbel, Arsenal are prioritising a new striker this summer, with Isak top of Arteta’s wishlist as we edge closer towards the transfer window. The Newcastle forward is admired internally at the Emirates, and it's understood that he would be open to a move to London.

Liverpool are also said to be keen on the Swedish striker, but the biggest hurdle when it comes to securing his signature is cost. The Magpies insist that he's not for sale this summer, meaning it could take a monumental fee to prise him away from St James' Park.

Isak, described as 'the best striker in the world', would undoubtedly be a game-changing signing for Arsenal in a position of need for the Gunners. Bukayo Saka takes a large portion of the goalscoring burden at the Emirates Stadium, so adding another player capable of finding the back of the net regularly would be hugely beneficial.

Newcastle will understandably do everything possible to keep hold of Isak. Although he appears happy at the club, failing to qualify for the Champions League could be a frustration for the former Real Sociedad striker.
