Barcelona defender Jules Kounde has taken to social media to set the record straight about a comment he was alleged to have made during the team’s Champions League clash with Inter.
Kounde jetted in to Milan for the game and it was reported by Catalunya Radio he made a curious comment after seeing Robert Lewandowski feature as a substitute.
The Frenchman is alleged to have said: “I don’t know why Lewandowski is playing, he shouldn’t be playing in this condition.”
The report seemed a bit unlikely at the time, and it’s no surprise to see Kounde move quickly to set the record straight.
He posted on X; “Making up comments and telling tall tales is all well and good, but it’s not journalism. What’s also not journalism is transmitting information without guaranteeing its truth. Now, you can share the tweet if you want @laiatudel @CatalunyaRadio @sport and others.”

It’s not the first time that Kounde has used to his social media platform to respond to speculation. He hit back on Twitter several years ago amid speculation he wanted to leave, writing: “To make it clear: at no time did I ask to go out, so I’m not going anywhere.”
