Arsenal are leading Chelsea in the race to sign England under-21 winger Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.
The 20-year old wants to leave the Bundesliga side at the end of the season, and has already informed the club of his decision.
He wants to return to England, and join a team competing in the Champions League, having previously been part of the Manchester City set-up, and had previously been linked with a move to Chelsea.
However reports in Germany indicate Arsenal may already be in talks to sign him, although a fee of ₤50 million appears excessive for a player who is still relatively unproven.
Gittens primarily plays on the left, although he has also appeared in six games on the right this season, suggesting that he could be the top quality deputy for Bukayo Saka that Arsenal have been looking for over the past few seasons.

He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
