Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been labelled bitter and told to ‘face the facts’ after the Gunners defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-finals.

Arsenal headed to the Parc des Princes on Wednesday looking to overturn a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates a week ago and make it to the final.
They were unable to do so, though, as goals from Fabian Ruiz and Achraf Hakimi, before a Bukayo Saka strike in the 76th minute saw PSG run out 2-1 winners and 3-1 on aggregate.
It was a frustrating evening for Arsenal who started the game brightly and caused PSG problems but found themselves up against an imperious Gianluigi Donnarumma, who denied them superbly on several occasions.
The Gunners simply didn’t have the quality to get beyond a flourishing PSG side, who some believe are currently the best team in Europe.
Mikel Arteta was in a feisty mood after the game, though, insisting his side had been the better one and deserved to progress, despite a 3-1 defeat overall and losing both legs.
He’s been widely mocked for his statements and the Rothen S’enflamme podcast were one of those who were left less than impressed.
_“Listen, Arteta, I’m disappointed with his reaction, and I understand that there’s frustration and anger, especially after the match. We saw him very angry with the French press,”_ they said on the Arsenal manager.
_“We had a debate about it, right after, I think he took a tactical lesson from Louis Enrique in the match. He made up for it in the first half because it didn’t last the entire match either in the first half, but one half out of four is not enough to be able to hope to qualify._
_“He showed that he’s a good coach, a really good coach, that he’s learned a lot over the last few years, and that this team isn’t yet mature; maybe there’s still room for improvement, even from him._
_“It’s the same way of thinking of many Spanish coaches. Arteta, he’s in the same mould as Guardiola. They’ll tell you they’ll find a solution because of the team, because of the tactics. I’ll invent something, because sometimes it works very well, there’s no problem._
_“Sometimes, it takes time for the Spaniard to surrender. That’s to face the facts, and with Arteta I think that’s why I say, maybe he lacks a little maturity. I think that now, it’s time to mature, to face the facts that, man, you may be a very good coach. There’s no doubt about it. You’ll have to find something else. And it’s the big ones who do that.”_
