Man Utd eye 17 y/o Barcelona prospect with £5m release clause, face competition from Premier League rivals

Manchester United changed their recruitment strategy shortly after Sir Jim Ratcliffe became co-owner of the club.

One of the most noticeable differences since Ineos took control of football operations at Manchester United has been the push to sign the brightest prospects in the world.

There has been a clear emphasis on signing younger players, as seen with Leny Yoro, Chido Obi, Ayden Heaven, Patrick Dorgu and Diego Leon.

Ruben Amorim intends to add more quality to his United first-team in the summer, after a turbulent campaign sees the Red Devils sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

That said, United can still win a trophy if they beat Tottenham in the Europa League final in two weeks. A win in Bilbao would not only secure a place in the Champions League, but it would also give United more spending power in the transfer window to make better signings.

Manchester United tracking Hernandez Torres

After reaching the Europa League, United have several players who could become European champions at a young age. That suggests Ineos strategic plans for transfers are on the right page, so they are likely to continue their pursuit of the world’s most promising prospects.

Other Premier League clubs will have the same idea, as we’ve seen Man City and Chelsea snap up a lot of the young talent in recent years. Brighton have also enjoyed a lot of success in the transfer market.

According to Sky Sports, United and Chelsea have been keeping a close eye on Barcelona’s promising youngster Juan Hernandez Torres.

Turning 18 in July, Torres has a release clause that could be activated for £5 million, which could prove tempting for one of the Premier League clubs.

Torres has starred for Barcelona’s U19s in their UEFA Youth Cup-winning side, scoring two goals in the semi-final against AZ Alkmaar.

The report also claims that Chelsea have considered an idea for Torres, which could see him join sister club Strasbourg on loan for a temporary period.

Man Utd fallout star dreams of Barcelona transfer

United may have more reason to negotiate with Barcelona this summer.

After a temporary spell on loan at Aston Villa, Marcus Rashford is looking to sign for Barcelona in the summer.

It remains to be seen if Barcelona or Hansi Flick are interested in a deal that could see Rashford move to Camp Nou, but his future at Old Trafford remains uncertain after being snubbed by Amorim.

With United now reportedly keen on one of Barcelona’s top talents, the two clubs may both have reason to open negotiations in the summer transfer window.

Recent reports suggest Rashford has enlisted the help of Pini Zahavi, the super agent with close ties to Barcelona, in an effort to accelerate their interest.
