“I confirm our interest in Barcelona’s Eric Garcia. I really like him: he’s versatile, a leader, and important for the team. But he’ll stay at Barcelona,” he told a press conference.

Garcia’s versatility has been really useful to the German coach and it seems likely he will continue at the club and could even be offered a new contract.

Fabregas also revealed he was at San Siro in midweek to watch his former club Barcelona take on Inter in the Champions League.

“I was leaving after Raphinha’s goal, then I heard a roar and went back in,” he added.

“I watched extra time: a beautiful match, one to remember, part of Champions League history.”
