Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign central midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Spanish side Real Sociedad, Fabrizio Romano has revealed. The ever-reliable journalist revealed that a long-term contract has been verbally agreed by all parties and the north Londoners will trigger his €60m release clause.
The Gunners – who lost in the Champions League semi-final at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain – are keen to add more bodies to their engine room ahead of next season and have, according to Romano, picked up a gem in Zubimendi - who has been named the 'second-best player in the world' by Spain boss Luis da le Fuente.
Fabrizio Romano: Arsenal Agree Deal for Zubimendi
North Londoners set to trigger €60m release clause
Zubimendi, who is 26 years of age and has spent the entire of his career at boyhood club Real Sociedad, is a player that Arsenal have monitored for quite some time now. In 2024/25 alone, the Spaniard has played 44 times in all competitions, chalking up two goals and assists apiece. His best body of work, however, comes from a defensive standpoint – and Arsenal will benefit from his all-action approach.
