Ipswich player now linked with Arsenal

Whilst Ipswich Town will be playing back in the Championship, striker Liam Delap is not expected to be part of their side.

Signed from Manchester City at the start of this season, he has been one of the standout players in the relegated team, scoring 12 Premier League goals.

And that has seen him linked with a move to several other Premier League clubs, with Arsenal now amongst them. And his release clause of ₤30 million means that he is also within the budget of a number of other clubs. Delap is aware of the interest in him from outside East Anglia, but will defer making any decision until the season is definitely over.

The Gunners are expected to sign an elite striker this summer, with Viktor Gyökeres of Sporting tipped to end up at the Emirates.

However, they are also considering a younger player to play alongside him and now believe that Delap, who is still just 22 years old, fits the bill.

Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
