‘We’re So Getting Relegated’‘Avoid Like The Plague’West Ham Fans Issue Verdict On Move For Spurs Loanee

West Ham are showing some interest in Tottenham forward Timo Werner, according to reports.

The German is on loan from RB Leipzig, and while Spurs have an option to sign him on a permanent basis for £8.5m, they have already decided that they will send him back.

However, Werner is keen on staying in London, and talkSPORT claim the Hammers and Fulham are two potential destinations. It is fair to say that fans on X are not best pleased about this transfer rumour:

Werner has struggled with his confidence in recent years

The striker scored goals on a regular basis before he moved to Chelsea in 2020. He did hit double figures in both of his seasons with the Blues but he gained a reputation for missing gilt-edged opportunities.

After returning to Germany, Werner initially rediscovered his scoring touch with Leipzig before falling out of favour and finding himself back in the Premier League with Tottenham.

During his time in North London, the 29-year-old has managed to score just 3 times in 41 appearances.

West Ham will prioritise a number nine

Although Werner has played up front in his career, he isn’t someone who can hold up the play and lead the line in the traditional sense.

Reports have suggested that head coach Graham Potter is keener on recruiting a target man. Links to the likes of Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta, Benfica’s Vangelis Pavlidis and Ipswich’s Liam Delap would indicate that the manager is hoping to buy a No.9 who has very different traits to Werner.
