Barcelona star Yamal reveals the two 'iconic' English stadiums he most wants to play in

As rising teenage phenoms come, it’s hard to look beyond the record-breaking Lamine Yamal – in fact, you could argue he’s on a similar route to GOAT status like Lionel Messi was back in the day. And the Spaniard, 17, has recently named two stadiums that he would like to strut his stuff inside.

Albeit crazy to say, Yamal – one of the best players in world football – is still in the infant stages of his soon-to-be illustrious career and, having made just north of a century of appearances for his current employers, there are a number of stadiums yet to see the youngster in action.

Yamal carries shades of Messi given how he’s emerged onto the scene as one of the deadliest attackers on the planet, but he has been compared to that of Neymar for his ever-growing level of technicality and ability to leave defenders in the dust.

The Two English Stadiums Yamal Wants to Play In

'There are so many I’ve yet to experience, especially outside of Europe'

He’s dazzled at the San Siro against Inter Milan; he’s jumped off the page at the Santiago Bernabeu against his team’s arch-rivals; he’s withstood the pressure of Borussia Dortmund’s Yellow Wall – but there are still two stadiums he wants to tick off his list.

Thus far in his career, the teen sensation has scored 22 goals and grabbed another 33 assists in 102 outings for Barcelona’s senior team. If you remember rightly, he also played a vital role in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph over England, and, for La Roja, he’s scored four times in 19 games.

As is his influence on the pitch, he’s also become a global superstar off it – and, as a result, he was announced as a global ambassador for Beats by Dre on Friday. The campaign (watch it below) named the world-beater as the CEO of Yamal records.

But putting his best pre-match track to the side for one moment, Yamal was asked about what stadiums he would like to play in before his career comes to an end – which, of course, is far in the future. Per Daily Mail, he replied:

“There are so many I’ve yet to experience, especially outside of Europe. In Europe, some of the iconic ones I’d like to play in are Old Trafford and Anfield.”

Old Trafford, the home of the once-dominant Manchester United, is widely regarded as one of the best stadiums in Premier League history – but Yamal is yet to dance on the turf of the Theatre of Dreams, which has a capacity of 74,310 supporters.

Given that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS-led entourage are looking to replace the 1910-built venue with a state-of-the-art replacement stadium within a five-year timeline, the Euro 2024 superstar doesn’t have long to fulfil his dream of stepping foot on Old Trafford.

Liverpool's home of Anfield – which is widely regarded as one of the most atmospheric grounds in world football – is going nowhere and given that the Reds are more likely to be playing in the Champions League in years to come, Yamal may have the chance to tick the 61,276-seater off his bucket list.

Elsewhere, the Spanish hotshot highlighted his two favourite non-Barcelona players at the moment: Paris Saint-Germain's Ousmane Dembele and Bukayo Saka of Arsenal: “Right now, outside of Barca, I think [Ousmane] Dembele or Bukayo Saka are doing really well.”
