Report: Arsenal make £63m bid to sign third player after Zubimendi and Garcia, personal terms…

Arsenal have tabled an official offer for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres after crashing out of the Champions League, according to Correio da Manha (via Sport Witness).

The Gunners were beaten home and away by Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals, while also being pipped to a Premier League title by Liverpool after a disappointing campaign in which they are now on course to finish as runners-up for a third consecutive season.

That has sparked the club into life in the transfer market as they look to make a big push next season, and they have made their move to add an elite number nine to the squad.

It's known that the Gunners are in the market to add goals to the side, and reports in Portugal now state that the club have tabled a £63m bid to sign Sweden international Gyokeres.

The 26-year-old, who has been described as 'unstoppable' after netting 95 goals over the last two seasons, is expected to leave Portugal after two stunning campaigns and a move to north London is believed to be near the top of his priorities.

The report states that Arsenal have already agreed personal terms with the player and just need an agreement with Sporting, but club president Frederico Varandas believes he can get more than the amount offered.

The move for the striker comes after GMS revealed that Andrea Berta had sealed an agreement with Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi to become the club's first summer signing, with the triggering of his release clause seen as a formality once the transfer window opens.

Arsenal are also 'close' to signing goalkeeper Joan Garcia too according to reports, as Mikel Arteta looks to add more competition to the squad for David Raya after Aaron Ramsdale was sold and Neto looks set to return to Bournemouth following his loan spell this season.

Gyokeres has an £84m release clause in his contract in Lisbon, however there is an agreement that he will be sold for less this summer, and Arsenal could get a deal over the line by adding some add-ons and incentives to the deal.
