Leeds United transfer latest as new £10m striker link emerges amid Daniel Farke and 49ers plan

Leeds United are expected to provide competition in the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach forward Franck Honorat, it has been claimed. Daniel Farke's side are set to bolster their front line this summer as the Whites prepare for their return to the Premier League.

Although Joel Piroe finished as the Championship top scorer with 19 goals in 46 matches, Leeds feel they need to add more depth and strength to their attacking department.

Beto has been linked with a shock move from Everton, while Besiktas talent Semih Kilicsoy is among the others Leeds are considering.

Now, according to Turkish media outlet Fotospor, it has been reported that Leeds are in the running for Monchengladbach ace Honorat, with Besiktas, Nice and Freiburg also interested in the 28-year-old.

Honarat has scored five times and added nine assists in 18 appearances for Monchengladbach this season and is contracted until 2028. The Frenchman has struggled with injuries, but when fit, he has been outstanding.

While Honorat can be used down this middle, his best position is on the right-hand side. An unorthodox playmaker, Honorat boasts crossing, key passes, set pieces and concentration among his strengths.

Valued at around £10.1million, Honorat would take up a small chunk of Leeds' reported £100m transfer budget for the summer window.

The Whites are bidding to sign several players as they aim to survive relegation in the Premier League - something the last six promoted teams have failed to do.

Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton - who were promoted from the Championship in 2023/24 - have dropped straight back down to the second tier.

Leeds, meanwhile, are hoping to buckle that trend and stay in the top flight, having secured their return following a two-year absence.

After Leeds won the Championship title at Plymouth Argyle last Saturday, Farke cut an emotional figure following Manor Solomon's dramatic stoppage-time winner.

He said: "I was so focused to win promotion but honestly I was a bit greedy for the title in recent weeks.

"We spoke about the only time we won this title was without supporters. I wanted this so badly. I've run out of energy - even the half time talk was complicated. It paid off in the end. A fantastic goal."
