Khayon Edwards, one of the longest-serving players in the Arsenal academy, is set to depart the club this summer after a Premier League 2 campaign that has earned him a nomination for PL2 Player of the Season.
The 21-year-old striker’s exit will bring to a close a journey that began in 2008 at the age of five and saw him progress through every level of the club’s youth system.
Edwards scored 12 goals and registered three assists in 21 appearances for Arsenal’s under-21s this season, including decisive goals in both of the side’s Premier League 2 play-off fixtures.
That form has led to his nomination for the league’s Player of the Season award, which will be announced at the Premier League Academy Awards on May 13th. Although the full shortlist has yet to be confirmed by the Premier League, Edwards’ inclusion reflects a his significant season.

Despite this strong season, Arsenal are understood to be planning for his departure, with Edwards attracting interest from clubs in England, Germany, Portugal and Switzerland.
His loan spell at Leyton Orient in early 2024 offered first-team experience, though he made seven appearances without scoring or assisting. Nonetheless, his overall record for the under-21s remains impressive, with 26 goals and six assists in 57 appearances.
Edwards was named as an unused substitute for Europa League ties against Bodo/Glimt and PSV Eindhoven in 2022 and signed his first professional contract that same year. He later trained regularly with the senior squad, but a first-team debut has not materialised.
