Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong is set to be one of the players in heavy demand in the summer transfer window.
The Dutchman has established himself as a top player in his position in Europe and has attracted interest from several top clubs, one of whom happens to be FC Barcelona.
Indeed, the Blaugrana are in the market for a new right-back and see Frimpong as an ideal fit, with the coaching staff and the sporting department understood to be in consensus on the subject.
Liverpool eyeing Frimpong
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, newly-crowned Premier League champions Liverpool are also interested in signing Frimpong in the summer.
Indeed, the Reds have the Barcelona target as one of the names on their shortlist as they scour the market for a right-back to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is set to join Real Madrid as a free agent.

The update from Romano states that Liverpool are well informed about Frimpong’s situation and how the payment structure for his €35-40 million release clause has been defined.
This will come as a concerning development for Barcelona as they might not be in a position to match the contract offer that Liverpool would be tabling for Frimpong.
Furthermore, the presence of fellow Dutchmen Arne Slot as manager and Virgil van Dijk in the squad could also play a role in the right-back favouring a move to Anfield.
Recent reports had suggested that Frimpong was leaning towards a move to Spain but now it will be interesting to see if Liverpool’s entry into the picture changes things.
