Arsenal are in advanced talks with Leandro Trossard over a new four-year contract, sources have told Football Insider.

Trossard is due to enter the final year of his contract at Arsenal this summer and the club are keen to reward him with a new deal.

Negotiations over a new four-year deal are intensifying and all parties are increasingly confident of reaching an agreement.

The Belgium international has been a key performer for Mikel Arteta’s side this season, providing 18 goal contributions with ten goals and eight assists in 53 appearances across all competitions.

Trossard vital for Arteta

Arsenal signed Trossard from Brighton back in January 2023, and since he joined the attacker has consistently scored goals.

Even when he hasn’t been starting, the 30-year-old has always made an impact off the bench, proving a vital weapon in Arteta’s armoury.

However, it is evident that the Gunners still need a striker, after defeat against PSG saw Arsenal crash out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage.

Position Name Goals

1 Kai Havertz 9

2 Leandro Trossard 8

3 Gabriel Martinelli 7

4 Mikel Merino 6

Kai Havertz is Arsenal’s top Premier League scorer this season with nine goals.

No player has scored more than ten Premier League goals this season for the North London side, and they have struggled to take their chances in close games.

Both Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz are out injured currently, which has left Arteta’s side very short up-front, and forced Mikel Merino and Trossard out of position.

Arsenal tying down top talent

The news that Trossard is set to sign a new deal at the Emirates comes just days after Football Insider exclusively revealed that Arsenal have opened talks with William Saliba.

The Gunners are hoping to tie their centre-back down for a number of years, as Real Madrid are interested in signing the French international.

Saliba is under contract until 2027, but it is well known that Los Blancos aim to unsettle players that aren’t restricted by long-term deals.

Real Madrid are set to secure the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold, after the Liverpool full-back refused to commit his future to the Reds.

Arsenal are looking to sort out Saliba’s situation quickly to ensure that they don’t suffer the same fate as the Premier League champions.
