The ongoing season has not been easy for Dani Olmo. Whether you look at the campaign as a whole or just the last few matches, it is clear he has had his ups and downs.
Still, according to SPORT, the Barcelona midfielder is pushing hard to start in today’s El Clasico at Montjuic. It is a big chance for Olmo and he knows it.
There is no denying the Spaniard’s quality. His technical ability and vision are top-class, but recent performances have not shown the best version of him. That’s why this Clasico could be a perfect turning point.
It is suggested that a goal would be ideal, especially because Olmo has never scored against Real Madrid in an official game. Not while at RB Leipzig, and not since joining Barcelona.
He has faced Madrid six times, with four wins, one draw and one defeat — a solid record for the team, but nothing to show personally in terms of goals or assists.
Trust from Flick and room to grow

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick still believes in Olmo. On his day, the midfielder can be a game-changer. But recently, things have not clicked. In the Champions League clash with Inter Milan, Olmo couldn’t find his rhythm.
In the first leg at Montjuic, he struggled in his attacking midfield role and was visibly frustrated when substituted. The return leg was not much better in the first half, but he made up for it with a well-placed header.
Despite that moment, Olmo and those around him know he has more to offer. He has scored 11 goals so far in his first season with Barça, which is a good return.
But for a player of his skill and intelligence, the expectations are even higher. A strong showing against Real Madrid would be the perfect way to silence critics and remind fans why Barcelona brought him in.
El Clasico presents Olmo with more than just another match, as it is a chance to prove he belongs at the top level, in the biggest games, wearing the Barcelona shirt.
