Barcelona defender weighing his future amid offers from European teams – report

As Barcelona gear up for a busy summer, there are multiple first-team stars who are facing an uncertain future in Catalonia.

One of them is Eric Garcia. Not more than six months ago, it was taken for granted that the defender would leave Catalonia at the end of the season.

However, a lot has changed since. After the turn of the year, Eric Garcia has become a key piece in Hansi Flick’s defensive setup, even though he is yet to establish himself as a first-team regular.

Garcia weighing up his options

A recent report from Diario SPORT, Garcia is weighing up his options as he gears up for an uncertain summer.

The report adds that the former Man City starlet has received several offers from European teams, including Como.

It appears Cesc Fabregas is keen on attaining the Spaniard’s services after being impressed by his versatility this season.

Garcia, though, has yet to decide. The defender has always shown the desire to remain at Barcelona, even when he was not a first-team regular.

But that could change in the coming summer, knowing Barcelona are interested in bringing in a new centre-back, with Jonathan Tah still emerging as one of the key candidates.

On the flip side, though, Ronald Araujo may also find himself on the chopping block, so it will be interesting to see how the dynamics in the Barcelona defence evolve.

Barcelona, for their part, must tread carefully. Although securing exits for unwanted defenders could be necessary, they already have Andreas Christensen and Araujo who can possibly leave the club.

Therefore, the potential exit of another defender could spell trouble for the club, especially for someone as versatile as Eric Garcia.
