Barcelona 4-3 Real Madrid player ratings: Barcelona trio drop 9/10 masterclasses

Barcelona and Real Madrid delivered another incredible El Clasico for the ages as Hansi Flick's side came from behind to beat their opponents 4-3, effectively sealing their La Liga triumph. The two sides faced off on Sunday afternoon at Olímpic Lluís Companys and despite falling 2-0 down early, through a Kylian Mbappe brace, the home team turned things around quickly and made an example of Los Blancos. Goals from Eric Garica, Lamine Yamal and a brace from Raphinha sealed the deal. Mbappe then added a third goal and completed his hat-trick in the second half.

Coming into the game, Barcelona sat four points ahead of Madrid at the top of La Liga, but they found themselves trailing early. After a ball was played to Mbappe, he won a penalty and converted the spot-kick himself. Initially, it looked as though he was offside, but replays showed the ball touched a defender on route to him and the penalty stood. Shortly after, the Frenchman scored his second, breaking through the Barcelona defence and poking the ball past Wojciech Szczesny. It looked as though there may have been a foul on Yamal in the build-up and fans of the Catalan club were fuming about both goals.

It didn't matter all that much in the end, though, and before the first half had even concluded, Flick's side had completely turned things around and scored four goals to take the lead. First, Garcia got on the end of a corner to ignite the comeback, then Yamal showed why he's one of the best players in the world with a wonderful, curling effort. The momentum was with Barcelona by then and Raphinha scored a quick-fire double to seal the result before the interval. Mbappe completed his hat-trick in the second half with a routine tap-in, but it was nothing more than consolation.

Barcelona Player Ratings

Lamine Yamal

Formation: 4-2-3-1

GK: Wojciech Szczesny - 4/10

Left with little chance to save Mbappe's penalty or his second. Did give away the penalty with a clumsy challenge.

RB: Eric Garcia - 7/10

Provided Barcelona with hope as he pulled a goal back from a corner in the first half.

CB: Pau Cubarsi - 5/10

Struggled to contain Mbappe at times. Was subbed off early in the second half.

CB: Inigo Martinez - 5/10

Often found Mbappe exploiting the backline and couldn't do much about it.

LB: Gerard Martin - 6/10

The full-back had very little to do.

CM: Frenkie de Jong - 6/10

Did a solid job controlling the middle of the park and didn't give Madrid an inch.

CM: Pedri - 7/10

Dictated play nicely and assisted Raphinha in the first half to complete Barcelona's comeback and give them the lead.

RW: Lamine Yamal - 9/10

After a quiet opening 20 minutes, the youngster came alive. He levelled things for Barcelona and caused Madrid all sorts of problems.

AM - Dani Olmo - 6/10

Was largely a passenger in what was otherwise a very impressive front four.

LW - Raphinha - 9/10 (Player of the match)

Continued his incredible form with two goals in the first half to send his side to victory.

ST - Ferran Torres - 9/10

Despite leading the lines, the Spaniard was a creative force and assisted three goals as Barcelona ran riot in the first half.

SUB: Alejandro Balde - 6/10

Came off the bench and provided some energy.

SUB: Andreas Christensen - 6/10

Came into the contest and settled quickly. Didn't put a foot wrong.

SUB: Fermin Lopez - 7/10

Came on late and scored but it was ruled out for handball in the build-up.

SUB: Hector Fort - N/A

Brought on with just over 10 minutes remaining, but didn't make much of an impression.

SUB: Gavi - N/A

Brought on late, but didn't do anything of note.

Real Madrid Player Ratings

Kylian Mbappe

Formation: 4-2-3-1

GK: Thibaut Courtois - 4/10

It was a tough afternoon for the Belgian, who conceded four goals in the first half alone.

RB: Lucas Vasquez - 5/10

The full-back has certainly seen better days. He couldn't keep up with Barcelona.

CB: Aurelien Tchouameni - 4/10

Playing out of position, the star had a rough showing and was run all over the place by Barcelona's dynamite forwards.

CB: Raul Ascencio - 4/10

Like his centre-back partner, Ascencio just couldn't handle Barcelona on the counter and he was left chasing shadows more often than not.

LB: Fran Garcia - 5/10

Initially had some success against Yamal, but it didn't last long and the remainder of the afternoon was rough for the full-back.

CM - Dani Ceballos - 4/10

It was far from the midfielder's finest hour as he was torn apart by Barcelona. He was replaced at half-time.

CM - Federico Valverde - 5/10

Completely overrun in the middle of the park.

RW: Arda Guler - 5/10

After a very disappointing first half in which he offered very little, the Turkish international was dragged off during the interval.

AM: Jude Bellingham - 5/10

Uncharacteristically quiet showing from the attacking midfielder.

LW: Vinicius Jr - 7/10

The winger was kept quiet on the flank and didn't present much of a threat for his side throughout the first half. Came into the contest after the restart, though, and assisted Mbappe's third goal to keep things interesting.

ST: Kylian Mbappe - 9/10

The Frenchman got off to a blistering start with a pair of early goals as Madrid raced out to a strong lead. Completed his hat-trick in the second half and was the only Madrid player causing Barcelona problems throughout.

Brought on late with his side chasing a goal, but didn't have time to make much of an impact.

Introduced in the closing stages and had a great chance to level things, but fluffed his lines and did very little else.
