**Barcelona 4-3** [**Real Madrid**](https://www.managingmadrid.com/) _(Mbappé x3). Another hugely disappointing defeat._ Here is the immediate reaction to the big loss. Next: Player ratings, interviews and a podcast.
After Barcelona crashed out of the Champions League in epic fashion, Real Madrid had the opportunity to do something very funny. Four points behind in the league with four games to go, a win in the last Clásico of the season would heat the title race to record temperatures for the season - and perhaps cause seal the meltdown that would pass the trophy into Real’s hands. Lucas Vázquez started at right-back, with Aurelien Tchouameni filling it at centre-back. Dani Ceballos and Arda Güler stacked the midfield, with the main players deployed elsewhere. Lucas Vázquez sported the armband for El Clásico.
It was a dream start for Real Madrid, as they found themselves 2-0 up through Kylian Mbappé. First, he slotted home a penalty with ease - before seemingly capitalising on Barcelona’s recent vulnerabilities to double the lead. Things were going swimmingly, until Barcelona decided to show up. Twenty minutes in it was 2-1, when Eric García headed past Thibaut Courtois to trigger the rot. Lamine Yamal would equalise with a great goal, before Raphinha would score twice to make it 4-2 at half-time, and send Madrid into shock in the process.

Barcelona scored an offside goal before Real Madrid would finally revive themselves slightly. Kylian Mbappé confirmed his hat-trick as Vinícius Júnior aided him on the break. Try as they might, their first half implosion proved too tricky to put right. Barcelona almost scored another late on, but it was disallowed. Full-time, 4-3 Barcelona - and the season is officially over. Tell me all of your thoughts in the comments below.
