Arsenal and Liverpool shared the points at Anfield in a 2-2 draw to bury the hatchet on their title rivalry this season.

The Gunners gave Arne Slot's side a guard of honour before the game kicked off, with Mikel Arteta arguing this week that Liverpool deserved one for their achievements this season.

Cody Gakpo opened the scoring for the Reds on 20 minutes, before Luis Diaz added another within 90 seconds.

But the prospect of a double humiliation on the day meant Arsenal came out firing in the second half; it took Gabriel Martinelli just two minutes after the teams re-entered the pitch to draw one back.

Makeshift attacking threat Mikel Merino was among the goals again as he levelled the affair in the 70th minute. But the Spaniard was later sent off, receiving his second yellow card nine minutes later, and stunting his side's hopes of mounting a complete comeback.
