NFL teams across the league held their rookie minicamps this week, giving fans their first opportunity to see Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel on the field together since the draft, after both were selected by the Cleveland Browns.
The Browns drafted Gabriel in the third round out of Oregon and later picked Sanders in the fifth round from Colorado. However, the team also has Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, and Deshaun Watson under contract on their depth chart heading into the 2025 season.
Despite this, both Gabriel and Sanders showed promise in their first outings, with Gabriel participating in most drills as the first QB. Head coach Kevin Stefanski made it clear that this early in the offseason, the order of drills doesn’t hold much significance.
While Gabriel and Sanders have gotten along well during the first two days of minicamp, Sanders posted a picture of the Browns rookies at the conclusion of minicamp on Sunday. Fans quickly noticed that the one player absent from the photo was Dillon Gabriel, sparking immediate attention.
Thankful for every player apart of our Rookie minicamp," Sanders caption read. "Great relationships was made during our time together."

Nonetheless, while Gabriel was likely just away when the picture was taken, the two have seemed to get along well during their first few days as teammates. Sanders praised Gabriel’s character, saying,
"A real cool guy overall, he always has a great mood," Sanders said of Gabriel. "Overall, I can tell he's a pretty good person. I’ve only known him for two days though."
