Browns Address How Shedeur Questions Could ‘Divide’ the Team

The Cleveland Browns and general manager Andrew Berry doubled down on rookie quarterbacks in the NFL Draft earlier this month.

Cleveland took Oregon's Dillon Gabriel in the third round, and after a historic slide in the selection process, the Browns selected Colorado's Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round.

Sanders' draft plight was by far the biggest story of the draft, and he continues to be a huge talking point - especially for the media - as the team engages in rookie minicamp.

Gabriel has fielded more than his share of questions about Sanders already this offseason, and had clearly had enough when pressed one more time.

“The more questions I get asked like that, it just divides the team," Gabriel said. "For me I think, we're in a room full of not just us, but Kenny, Joe and Deshaun [Watson], and for us, we know how important a healthy QB room is and a team we would to be a part of. And how do you create an environment every single day where everyone can be at their best? ... For us, we all do our thing, and everyone wins."

It's an incredibly appropriate response from a young man who will have to fight for a roster spot against that very Sanders.

Gabriel seems wise beyond his years, although that could be expected for a six-year starter who split time between UCF, Oklahoma and Oregon.

In 64 career collegiate games, the 24-year-old Gabriel has passed for 18,722 yards and 155 touchdowns while completing 65.2 percent of his passes. And that experience can go a long way in the NFL.
