Arsenal now‘hottest club’ in race for striker–€5.5m request on yearly salary

Multiple clubs in Europe have been linked with a move for Lille’s Jonathan David in the past few weeks and Arsenal are now credible candidates in the race.

The striker has found the back of the net 16 times in Ligue 1 this season, also assisting five times. He has become a consistent presence in front of goal, having also scored seven goals in the Champions League.

InterLive have looked at the Canada international’s situation today. They state that while David’s free agent status for the summer is attracting a lot of attention, Napoli have offered him a €4m per season deal.

As per the outlet, it is Arsenal who are the ‘hottest club’ in the chase for the forward, who also interests West Ham, Chelsea and Newcastle United.

Inter Milan and Juventus are also interested but it is Napoli who are pushing and that presents a threat to Arsenal, with the Nerazzurri remain confident about signing the player.

There is an awareness that David wants a wage of around €5.5m per season. No club has come forward with that amount but Premier League clubs like the Gunners can have a major chance due to their financial capabilities.
