Manchester United are preparing to reduce the transfer fee of Jadon Sancho, with Bayer Leverkusen expressing interest.
Bundesliga Return for Jadon Sancho
Jadon Sancho could soon head back to Germany. But, with some major compromises. Manchester United are open to sell the winger for just over £20 million. That is a sharp drop from the £73 million they paid Borussia Dortmund in 2021.
Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen are looking to bring Jadon back, especially with boss Xabi Alonso leaving. The deal depends on the £250,000-a-week salary. For the move to go through, the England international must accept a big pay cut. He was back to form during his recent Dortmund loan. However, the winger has no future at Utd under new manager Ruben Amorim.
Additionally, Chelsea are now backing out of their agreement to buy. So, the player may be forced to settle for less to revive his career.
United Eye Exit Deal as Bundesliga Sides Lurk Behind
Borussia Dortmund remains Sancho’s preferred destination.
However, Bayer Leverkusen would not behind financially. Leverkusen can afford the transfer fee, unlike Dortmund, who are keeping tabs but can’t match the numbers.
Sancho’s earlier spell at Dortmund was electric. He scored 53 goals with 67 assists in 158 appearances. And he even helped them reach the Champions League final during his loan last season.
Now, the winger faces a tough call. He can sit out the final year of his Utd contract. Or he has to take a cut in both wages and ego to get his career back on track.
Chelsea, who took him on loan this season, will reportedly have to pay £5 million to cancel the deal early. They could use that money to negotiate a pay-off. Either way, Sancho’s time at Old Trafford looks all but over. A fresh start in Germany seems likely, but only if the player plays ball.
