Liam Delap 'picks between Man Utd and Chelsea' but there may be a £30m transfer twist

Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap has chosen his preferred transfer destination between Manchester United and Chelsea this summer, according to reports. Both Premier League heavyweights want to sign Delap, who is available for just £30million after Ipswich's instant relegation back down to the Championship.

Ruben Amorim has prioritised upgrading his attack in his first summer transfer window at Old Trafford. The Portuguese tactician wants to recruit a natural striker as well as a versatile forward, with Wolves' Matheus Cunha reportedly in advanced talks over a switch. Enzo Maresca is also eyeing fresh blood across his front line next season, but Chelsea could be the club left disappointed.

According to talkSPORT, Delap is currently leaning towards a summer switch to United rather than Stamford Bridge.

It's claimed that the Manchester City academy graduate is keen to be playing his football in the north west again after two years away.

Delap spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Championship club Hull City before leaving City for Ipswich in a £20m deal last summer.

The 22-year-old also spent loan spells at Stoke City and Preston North End and is thought to be keen on a return from the south.
