OBR Newswire Bloviation Header
Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans!
Some days, the challenge of putting together the OBR Daily Newswire is that I have so many links that it takes a while to organize. Some days, the challenge is finding enough of interest to post.
With scribes taking Mother's Day off and a closed practice in Berea, today's batch of links is shorter (15 or so). Part of the blame for this is the infamous Barry Filter (trademark pending), which removes things behind a subscription wall, podcasts (too time-intensive for my users to get any info quickly), aggregators focusing on clickbait headlines, and more well-meaning fan blogs. I used to link blogs more often, but got some complaints. But I refuse to link 10 versions of the same story from various aggregators.
I hope the sites I tend to ignore, or writers whose material I rarely use, don't think there's something personal in the selections. I'm just surfing as I would as someone seeking information, and after learning from hard experience, what links are disappointing and which are not. Still, I'm sure there's some resentment from sites that aren't frequently listed. It's not personal. Provide something new/exclusive, and I'll link you. You can even contact me with links at my email or via Twitter DM.
Anyhow, here's today's links.
THE DAILY SHEDEUR: There was no access to practice yesterday, but Shedeur Sanders stories still showed up in the newsfeed, and somehow involved Tom Brady... again. That's lofty company. If Sanders is 1/3rd of the quarterback Tom Brady was, he'll get a statue outside the stadium. But Sanders does it to himself sometimes, responding to the question linked above that invited the comparison.
Meanwhile, his Dad helps stir things up, as an Instagram post of a Sanders completion from rookie camp was posted by "Prime Time" and became even more notable as Derek Carr reacted to it. Meanwhile, the AP writes about how Shedeur Sanders is trying to block out noise and focus on the Browns' playbook, which is something that Browns fans would want to hear.
Meanwhile, even Dillon Gabriel stories refer to Sanders in the headline, as in this one from Cleveland.com , where Sanders is in the title and Gabriel is referred to as a "fellow Browns quarterback."

According to the math we can do, Fred Greetham's videos of Sanders from the rookie camp got over 1 million views on social media. There's no denying that writing about Sanders works to get precious attention and clicks, so we're going to see it until that engine runs out of fuel.
I should note that some things about Sanders you'll see on this site have nothing to do with the OBR. For example, we didn't write this: Shedeur Sanders compares himself to Tom Brady after NFL Draft slide but it might show up on our forums or newsfeed. It's a story from the CBS NFL desk that was classified to the Browns and then winds up listed as part of the OBR's content. We have no idea when these stories will be written or classified for the OBR. They simply appear without warning.
I RELATE TO THIS POOR GUY: A sixty-year-old Cleveland sports fan dialed into the Rich Eisen Show yesterday, considering options beyond sports (Museums? Really? No!) because of the combined failures of the Browns, Guardians and Cavs. I link it because he then hilariously turned his spite onto the resident Boston fan in the room. "Billy in Cleveland" can join us in the Watercooler anytime.
OH NO, SCHEDULE PRE-HYPE IS ARRIVING TWO DAYS EARLY: The NFL could send out a press release, but they prefer to dominate the news cycle by turning the schedule into an event. Playing along with their evil plans, the schedule hype is starting early. BTW, we'll take part in this with a live show Wednesday at 8PM that ignores all the unimportant teams and focuses on the Browns:
SOME MISCELLANEOUS STUFF:
Have a good one! GO BROWNS!
