Marcus Rashford wants to join Barcelona this summer as he eyes a permanent move away from Man United following his Aston Villa loan.

That is according to former Man United and Villa scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected at his former clubs, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 27-year-old is unlikely to remain at Villa following his successful loan spell.

The England forward has recently changed agents with the desire of securing a permanent move and the move to the Nou Camp is seen as a good fit for all parties.

However, Brown told Football Insider in January that Barcelona will find it difficult to sign Rashford as a result of their crippling financial situation.

The remains the case now, and the Spanish giants will have to reshuffle their finances which could see players sold to raise money.

This comes after Football Insider revealed Villa face paying £130million over five years in wages and transfer fee if they sign Rashford at his current £350,000-a-week salary.

Marcus Rashford eyes Barcelona move after Aston Villa loan

Brown told Football Insider in January that Rashford wants to join Barcelona and is keen to move away from the spotlight of English football if possible.

The former scout who has wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that all parties are keen on the move to Spain if they can make it happen.

“*Marcus Rashford wants to join Barcelona,*” he told Football Insider.

“The issue is, they’re one of the teams who have had financial problems, so they need to sort out their finances before they can make that move.

“A lot of their business will be governed by players they can sell this summer.

“I think Rashford would be a good fit in many ways and he’s a player they’re definitely looking at.

“Wherever he goes, he’s going to have to make accommodations over his wages, that’s why it looks like he won’t be staying at Villa.

“He’s just changed agents with the intention of getting a move, so it’s a case of watch this space.”

Man United make Harry Maguire contract decision

Rashford is not the only player to have been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer amid speculation about a busy winodow.

However, Brown told Football Insider on 7 May that Man United will offer Harry Maguire a deal to extend his contract at Old Trafford this summer.

Ruben Amorim is keen to ensure he remains at the club beyond his contract’s current expiry date of June 2026, even if not as a first-team regular.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider in January that Maguire would hold sit-down talks with Amorim about his future at the club.
