· 12 May 2025, 14:30

**Bruno Guimaraes scored a beauty of a goal in the 90th minute at St James' Park on Sunday to double Newcastle United's lead over Chelsea and put the fans' nerves at ease.**

Newcastle had a one-man advantage over Chelsea, but it was the visitors who were playing with the confidence of having that extra man for much of the second half.

The nerves inside the ground were growing, and the tension was starting to make its way onto the pitch, but in the 90th minute, Bruno hit a sweet shot goalwards from the edge of the area, which took a deflection off a Chelsea defender, causing it to loop over Robert Sanchez.

Bruno celebrated by lifting the corner flag aloft like the absolute hero he is.

Bruno Guimaraes dedicated his goal to his mother and his wife

Speaking to Match of the Day 2, Bruno Guimaraes joked that the deflection wasn't that big and his shot was going in anyway before issuing a touching dedication to his mother and his wife.

> "Today's Mum's Day in Brazil, so I want to give this goal to my mum, to my wife, she has been an unbelievable mum to my children.

>

> "It means a lot to me to score in a tough game against a tough team. I'm very happy with the three points, and now we have to celebrate because it was a good one."

We can't help falling in love with Bruno

Isn't he just adorable? How can anyone not like the man?

Let's hope the lads don't celebrate too much, there's still plenty of work to be done with two games to go, but it's amazing how they continue to play like there's no pressure.

It's remarkable how far this side has come under Eddie Howe. We'd have folded long ago if it weren't for that man.
