The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs have been linked together for the better part of the last decade. Not just because Andy Reid saved both franchises as head coach, but because they have met in two of the last three Super Bowl matchups.
It was the Chiefs that got the better of the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII by a 38-35 final score. Kansas City came back from a 10-point halftime deficit to claim their third Lombardi trophy.
Philadelphia got their payback in a major way in February. Their 40-22 victory was not as close as the score may indicate. The Eagles led 34-0 late in the contest, and 40-6 midway through the fourth quarter.
With matchups in two of the last three Super Bowls, any regular season meeting is sure to be must-watch television.
And that's precisely what the NFL has in store this season. The Chiefs and Eagles are scheduled to face off in the 2025 regular season in a rematch of Super Bowl LIX.
It's been dubbed the top matchup of 2025 by the Eagles' website.
"This will be the second consecutive regular-season meeting between these teams coming as a Super Bowl rematch," the team website said. "The Eagles denied Kansas City's chance for a three-peat with a 40-22 victory in Super Bowl LIX. The previous matchup was a Monday night prime-time thriller won by the Eagles at Arrowhead Stadium in 2023. The Chiefs clinched the No. 1 seed again in 2024, going 15-2 in the regular season."
There are many storylines that will follow these two teams moving forward. A third Super Bowl meeting could vault this matchup into one of the better rivalries in league history.
We're a long ways away from that, though. At the very least, all eyes will be on Philadelphia's title defense, and a looming matchup against the team they defeated to get that championship.
