Report: Arsenal lead PL rivals in race to sign 'one of Europe's most in-form strikers', it's…

Arsenal could look to add Lille star Jonathan David to their ranks in the summer transfer window - with reports from Italy suggesting that the Gunners will look to wrap up a move for the Canadian as they are the 'hottest' team in the market for the striker at present.

David's record in Ligue 1 has been consistently incredible, scoring 87 goals in just 177 games for the club - which is just shy of a goal every two games and that has led to him being called 'one of Europe's most in-form strikers'. That could be enough to convince Mikel Arteta that he's the man to add to his ranks to help the Gunners to that all-elusive Premier League title next season, a trophy the club haven't won for 21 years.

Report: Arsenal the 'Hottest Club' in the Race for Jonathan David

The report by InterLive states that the Italian club aren't giving up on any 'important developments for David's signature, with talk of a potential move to the San Siro having gone on for months.

But with the Canadian not renewing his contract with Lille at the end of the season, he's attracted interest from Europe - with Arsenal being interested.

The Champions League will inevitably attract the forward, and with Arsenal needing new recruits to come into their attacking ranks, it's thought that Arsenal are the 'hottest club' in the race for his signature, with a player of his age and profile rarely being on the market for no transfer fee.

The report further states that David's value was £43million until he decided to run his contract down, and that has piqued the interest of various clubs, but any deal with Inter isn't close to happening amid there being no agreement on a salary, which Arsenal could offer thanks to their Premier League riches, though they are rivalled by other English clubs.

Gabriel Jesus was injured for the rest of the season in mid-January, and although Arsenal were crying out for an attacker, Arteta failed to land a talisman - and so, when first-choice spearhead Kai Havertz was ruled out until the end of the campaign just a week after the transfer window slammed shut, it hammered home the belief that the club need an attacker in the summer, which David would add with his talent and versatility.
