The ex Premier League star is now looking for a new club at the age of 34 following release from Luton Town.
Former Chelsea, West Ham and Crystal Palace winger Victor Moses has been made a free agent this summer following his release from Championship outfit Luton Town.
The Hatters were relegated from the second tier after a thoroughly disappointing campaign which saw the club place 22nd in the table. That means it’s back-to-back relegations for Luton Town, who were playing in the Premier League 12 months ago.
Moses arrived at the club last September as a free agent but only played a bit-part in the side’s Championship efforts. The 34-year-old made 18 appearances but did not feature since mid January.
Victor Moses released by Luton Town
The wide man scored for the Hatters on his second appearance, netting in a 3-1 defeat to Plymouth Argyle at Home Park. When the player arrived at Luton Town, former manager Rob Edwards said: “Victor is one we’ve been talking to for quite a while. He trained with us last week and played 60 minutes in a behind closed doors game, and we made a decision because we think he’s able to come in and help us. He gives us more strength in depth and versatility, because he’s someone who can play both sides or as a number ten.
“He’s played for so many different clubs in different ways and shapes, and under different managers, so he’s tactically aware. We think he’s someone who can provide some really good competition for us.
“I don’t want to put too much pressure on him and expect too much too soon. He’s not going to come in and start the games straight away. He’s got to get used to what we do and how we play, but he’s fit, he’s able to come in and affect it now, and he definitely makes the squad stronger.”
Prior to returning to the UK, Moses had been playing his football at Spartak Moscow between 2021 and 2024. The winger signed for the Russian side first on a loan-to-buy deal from Chelsea, with the permanent transfer eventually costing £3.9 million.
Ex Crystal Palace and West Ham winger made free agent
A product of the Crystal Palace youth academy, Moses made 69 appearances for the Eagles before spending two years at Wigan Athletic and then moving to Stamford Bridge in 2012. The player was on the books in west London for nine years but was sent on six loan spells, including a brief stay at West Ham during the 2015/16 campaign.
Moses won the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League while at Chelsea and also has an AFCON winner’s medal to his name with Nigeria in 2013. Somewhat unsurprisingly, given his lack of involvement towards the end of the campaign, Luton Town confirmed over the weekend that Moses was one of the first team stars to be released at the end of their contracts.
A statement read: “First team squad players also departing include goalkeepers Tim Krul and Jameson Horlick and winger Victor Moses upon natural expiry of their contracts. Josh Bowler will return to his parent club, Nottingham Forest, after his short loan spell. Kal Naismith’s half-season loan comes to an end and also returns to his parent club, temporarily, to see out the remainder of his contract in Bristol.
“We would like to thank Kal, Tim, Victor, Jameson and Josh immensely for their contribution to the Club this season and wish them well for their future careers.”
