Derek Carr Reveals His First Activity After Retirement

Derek Carr stunned NFL fans on Saturday by announcing his retirement after 11 solid years in the league.

But anyone thinking the former quarterback might be taking it easy should think again.

His wife, Heather Carr, gave followers a peek into his first day of retirement life, sharing a video that quickly put to rest any notions of Derek lounging around.

The clip begins with Heather asking what he has planned for his first official day as a retired player.

“We’re going to go outside and run as a family,” Derek answers.

And run they did. The video cuts to Derek and his family literally sprinting across their backyard, showing retirement hasn’t slowed his competitive drive one bit.

If there’s a saying about families who run sprints together staying together, the Carrs are making a strong case for it.

The day continued at full throttle as Derek lifted weights with his crew, enjoyed lunch with Heather, and squeezed in some golf practice, clearly not giving up on those tour dreams.

He also made time for playing catch with his kids, having dinner with the family, watering the garden, and even watching film. At this rate, he might need a vacation from his retirement schedule.

His second season with the New Orleans Saints had started with promise, showing glimpses of the quarterback fans were hoping to see.

Unfortunately, that potential was cut short when he fractured his hand just two weeks into the season.

Despite having three years remaining on his four-year contract, hopes remained high for a comeback.

Then came the unexpected blow that would ultimately end his career—a labral tear in his right shoulder coupled with rotator cuff problems.

These injuries proved too severe for Carr to overcome, leading to his decision to step away from football altogether.
