San Francisco 49ers, the owners of Leeds United and soon-to-be majority stakeholders at Rangers, are set to make a big announcement.

The 49ers’ interest in football began with Leeds and now they’re keen on having a controlling stake at the Ibrox outfit as well.

Recently, their managerial hire Daniel Farke, guided the Whites back to the Premier League, with the team finishing the Championship season with 100 points.

According to AS, Davide Ancelotti, son and assistant to Carlo Ancelotti, is “almost certain” to become the next Rangers manager.

Having been with his father at four different clubs, he finally wants to branch out and do something of his own.

While he will be the assistant to Carlo for the first two games in charge of Brazil, he will then be departing the national team set-up and become the Gers boss.

The 49ers, while still not rubber-stamped as owners of the Glasgow outfit, have the final say and are understood to be keen on hiring the Italian.

Farke appeared to be facing an uncertain future, but has been given the vote of confidence ahead of the new season.

Leeds United do not seem to be the priority for 49ers anymore

Leeds fans may feel neglected as their owners, 49ers Enterprises, focus heavily on a high-profile takeover of Rangers, potentially diverting attention from Elland Road.

The 49ers’ ambitious moves, including appointing Ancelotti and Francesco Mauri at Gers and leveraging a big budget, suggest significant resources are being channelled to Ibrox to challenge Celtic.

Meanwhile, despite Leeds’ Championship title win and Premier League promotion, fans worry the ownership’s multi-club model prioritises the Ibrox outfit’s European aspirations over Leeds’ immediate needs, like squad depth for top-flight survival.

Paraag Marathe’s assurances that Leeds remains a standalone entity ring hollow when contrasted with the lack of marquee developments behind the scenes.

The 49ers’ global ventures further fuel concerns that Leeds’ passionate fanbase is being sidelined, risking discontent as the club navigates a critical Premier League campaign.
