Bears create roster spot by moving Tory Taylor to int'l list, fill it with tryout CB

Former Stephen F. Austin cornerback Jeremiah Walker earned a roster spot as a tryout player at the Bears’ rookie minicamp.

The team added him Monday. To make room, they moved punter Tory Taylor to the exempt/international player list. Taylor, who is from Australia, will not count on the team’s 90-man roster because of the international exemption. He’ll continue to practice with the Bears as usual. Taylor is the only punter on the Bears roster and will be their starter when the season begins.

The Bears did the same thing with Taylor in July. He was removed from the international list when he made the 53-man roster out of training camp.

Walker had six pass breakups and 34 tackles as a senior last season and was named first-team Southland All Conference. The 6-foot, 195-pounder was one of 23 players brought in on a tryout basis for the Bears’ rookie minicamp, which featured 47 total playesr and ended Sunday after three practices.
