Manchester United are confident of landing top striker target Liam Delap ahead of rivals Chelsea from relegated Ipswich Town.
According to TBR, Manchester United feels Liam Delap wants to join them over Chelsea, as he is certain to leave relegated Ipswich Town. The Red Devils are now confident of landing their top striker target, as a move back to Manchester reportedly is an appealing factor for the former Manchester City man.
Manchester United are preparing for a big summer window, with the club planning on signing players for different positions. The Red Devils are eager to strengthen their attacking setup on priority, as Ruben Amorim seeks players that would suit his style.
The manager is tired of current first-choice Rasmus Hojlund after many underwhelming displays since he took over the club. Amorim seeks an immediate change in the No.9 role, with many targets being mentioned. One of those was Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, with Amorim directly responsible for his development at the Portuguese club when he was in charge of the club.
Arsenal are the front runners for Gyokeres ahead of the summer, as Manchester United could miss out. Other names included Jean-Philippe Mateta and Victor Osimhen. However, they are now realistically eager to land Liam Delap from relegated Ipswich Town following the former Manchester City man’s impressive season in the Premier League where he notched 12 goals.
Manchester United are not the only team in town for the 22-year-old Premier League star, with Chelsea also keen on Delap. The Blues have been looking to sign a new striker in the market as competition for Nicolas Jackson, although now, the Red Devils believe Delap wants to join them over the Stamford Bridge outfit in the summer.
Liam Delap keen on a return to Manchester
Manchester United are close to signing Delap, and the 22-year-old Premier League star reportedly wants a return to Manchester where he has spent a lot of his time before. With the Chelsea links, he could have had the chance to reunite with former Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca as well as former teammate Cole Palmer.
Hence, Manchester United are confident, as they are eager to land Delap to complement another prospective signing that they await. The Red Devils are also closing in on Matheus Cunha despite concerns amid interest from rivals. Should they bring both those attackers, Amorim could have a lethal force up front, as he would hope those players elevate their status in the Premier League.
