AFC Bournemouth have stepped up their efforts to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga on a permanent deal following his impressive performances during his loan spell from Chelsea, according to Caught Offside sources.
The Spanish shot-stopper has impressed with his commanding presence and crucial saves, becoming a key figure in Bournemouth’s push for Premier League stability.
Encouraged by his form, the Cherries are actively pursuing a full transfer for the 30-year-old goalkeeper in the upcoming transfer window.
The Spaniard has made 33 appearances for Andoni Iraola’s side this season in all competitions.
Bournemouth face financial challenge
Despite Bournemouth’s intention to retain Kepa, the financial aspect of the deal remains a significant hurdle.
Chelsea currently shoulder more than half of Kepa’s substantial £200,000-a-week wage, covering over £100,000 of his salary.
If Bournemouth were to complete a permanent transfer, they would need to renegotiate these terms or significantly increase their wage package, something that could strain their financial structure.
Bournemouth are not alone in their pursuit of Kepa. German outfit Bayer Leverkusen have identified the Spanish goalkeeper as a prime target.
While official negotiations with Chelsea have yet to commence, Leverkusen’s interest is well-documented.
The Bundesliga side are looking to upgrade their goalkeeping options, and Kepa’s experience in the Premier League and Champions League makes him an attractive prospect.

Leverkusen’s financial stability and Champions League aspirations could be persuasive factors in luring Kepa away from the Premier League.
Should Bournemouth fail to secure a permanent deal, Leverkusen are expected to move swiftly.
Beyond Leverkusen, Kepa’s resurgence has caught the eye of several top European clubs.
Sides from Serie A, La Liga, and even the Premier League are monitoring his situation closely.
From Kepa’s perspective, Bournemouth represent a place where he has been able to reignite his career with consistent playing time and a supportive environment.
The coming weeks are expected to be pivotal, as Bournemouth push to finalise negotiations with Chelsea.
Along with Kepa, Christopher Nkunku is also expected to leave the club this summer.
