On Saturday, [we covered claims from Correio da Manhã](https://sportwitness.co.uk/arsenal-have-submitted-official-offer-gunners-make-huge-striker-bid-agree-personal-terms/) that Arsenal have offered €75m to Sporting CP to sign Viktor Gyökeres, but that the Portuguese club are looking for a little more to part ways with their striker.
At the time, we explained Correio da Manhã is the most excitable Portuguese newspaper, so it’s always best to wait for others to come forward.
Gyökeres is today on the front page of [A Bola](http://abola.pt), with a headline saying the Gunners want to seduce the player with a salary worth €8m. Inside it’s explained Arsenal have offered the player wages which would be worth £7m a year after tax. The insinuation is that’s acceptable.
The player has long been seen in Portugal as Arsenal’s priority for the striker position, and it’s not hard to see why.
Last season he hit the back of the net 43 times and contributed 15 assists across 50 matches. This season he’s shown that wasn’t a fluke, with a remarkable 52 goals and 13 assists in 50 matches so far.
A Bola say Arsenal haven’t made a formal bid for the player and won’t do so immediately. Sporting are in a very close league battle which is going to the final game of the season, and they’re also in the cup final. Therefore, no distractions are welcome.
When that is sorted out, with the last match being the final on May 25th, they’re ready to put a €70-75m offer on the table.
Gyökeres himself is said to prioritise a move to the Premier League.
