The summer transfer window deadline has been brought forward, with the window no longer shutting at 11pm.
The Premier League transfer window will open early between Sunday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 10 due to an exceptional registration period for the expanded Club World Cup. It will then open again on Monday, June 16 with clubs free to do business until Monday, September 1.
Both windows will close at 7pm, it has been confirmed. Normally, clubs have until 11pm to buy and sell players but will now have four hours less than normal to complete deals on deadline day.
According to The Athletic, the Football Association (FA), the Premier League and the English Football League (EFL) all agreed to implement the change. It's possible other leagues across Europe also make a similar change.
Staff at football clubs working normal hours on deadline day was one of the reasons why the change has been implemented, according to the report.
A decision is yet to be made on the time the winter transfer window will close on February 2, 2026.
This is a breaking story. More as we get it...
