Report: Man City now set to submit bid for player Arsenal released after problems emerge over…

The summer transfer window is yet to even open, but Manchester City have already identified a primary target.

Hugo Viana is pushing to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen – who is valued in the region of £100m – after his rise to stardom in Germany.

The Bayer Leverkusen No.10 has impressively scored 16 goals and provided 15 assists in 44 appearances this season.

However, Bayern Munich have agreed terms with Wirtz, and currently seem the favourites to sign the German wonderkid.

In light of that rumour, Manchester City are now ready to turn attention towards Eberechi Eze instead.

Manchester City ready to bid for Eberechi Eze

Football Insider are now claiming that the Citizens are prepared to bid for the Crystal Palace No.10 after the FA Cup final against the south Londoners on Saturday.

Eze has a £60m release clause in his contract, which makes him a considerably cheaper option than Wirtz, and it seems to be good value after the attacking midfielder netted 12 goals and assisted a further 11 in 40 appearances for Crystal Palace so far this term.

Football Insider add that this release clause has also alerted other Premier League sides, hence why Manchester City are ready to make an early move for the England international.

Eze, who Arsenal released at the age of 13, recently scored at the Etihad Stadium as Crystal Palace went 2-0 up over Manchester City in April, before eventually suffering a 5-2 defeat.

Eberechi Eze could replace Jack Grealish

Should this deal materialise, many would assume the man from Greenwich would replace Kevin De Bruyne, seeing as the Belgian has already announced his departure.

However, Eze could actually replace Jack Grealish, as Sky Sports believe the Manchester City No.10 is up for sale after a difficult 2024/25 campaign.

The £100m man has only made seven Premier League starts this season, and would have just 12 months remaining on his contract next summer should Viana fail to find a buyer this summer.
