BBC journalist: Chelsea could sign 'best striker in the world', he wants £400,000-a-week wages

Chelsea have not ruled out a summer move for Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella has revealed.

The Blues are expected to bring in a new number nine after the season and are likely to be ‘aggressive’ in the market as they look to add another option alongside Nicolas Jackson.

While they also hold interest in Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, the 21-year-old would reportedly be more inclined to join Manchester United, if they manage to secure Champions League football by winning the Europa League.

Chelsea could then be forced to explore alternative targets and may return to Osimhen, who was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge last year.

Wage demands were an obstacle last summer

According to Kinsella, Chelsea found Osimhen’s wage demands ‘prohibitive’ when negotiating with Napoli for the Nigerian striker’s arrival last summer.

However, the 26-year-old is unlikely to lower those demands, with GIVEMESPORT sources claiming he could request a salary of £400,000 per week at his next club.

Osimhen, praised as ‘the best striker in the world’, has been sensational on loan at Galatasaray this season, scoring 33 goals and providing eight assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.

He is expected to leave Napoli this summer and has just over a year left on his contract, which runs until June 2026.

Chelsea are also anticipated to sign a new centre-back this summer, with Crystal Palace ace Marc Guehi among their targets.

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, the Blues are growing confident they can beat Premier League competition to sign the England defender, who has less than 14 months left on his contract.
