The Pittsburgh Steelers will face the Minnesota Vikings in Dublin, Ireland, this season, sources confirmed to PennLive and the NFL announced on Tuesday morning.
The game will take place in Week 4, with the Vikings heading over to Dublin, a repeat of the last international matchup the Steelers had in 2013. There, they played the Vikings at Wembley Stadium in London.
This will be the Vikings’ first international game. In Week 5, they will head to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to face the Cleveland Browns.
The Steelers-Vikings clash will take place at Croke Park, marking the NFL’s first regular season game in Dublin. The Steelers played a preseason game there in 1997. Croke Park is the biggest stadium in Ireland and can hold 82,300 people.
The game will kick off at 9:30 a.m. EST at 2:30 p.m. local time in Dublin.
Since the Steelers will have nine home games, 2025 will be a year when they can play internationally. Ireland has remained a key area for the Rooney family, and former Steelers team president Dan Rooney was the Ambassador to Ireland under President Obama. The Rooneys have pushed for a game in Ireland.
Team president Art Rooney II says the team is delighted to play in Ireland.
Mike Tomlin says he was pumped to play overseas.
“I know I’m really excited about it, to be quite honest with you, because I just think about the late, great Ambassador Rooney and how fired up he would be about it. It makes me smile when I think about it. It’s an honor to represent our game and our country over there, and I look forward to doing so,” Tomlin said.
Pittsburgh has international marketing rights in Ireland, Germany, and Mexico. It is likely they will play in all three countries at some point.
The rest of the NFL schedule will be released on Wednesday.
